DIAL-AN-ANGEL® flies in to lend a hand during Carers Week 2005

Carers are ordinary Australians - mums, dads, daughters, sons and other family members and friends - who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances, all of them making sure that their loved ones maintain some quality of life despite disability, mental illness, chronic illness or frail age. In many instances they do this without break or respite.

Through the nursing and eldercare departments of DIAL-AN-ANGEL, Angels with special skills were provided to give much needed respite for a day, freeing up friends and family to take part in the activities planned for Carers Week.

“We cater to a wide range of carers who need a break from time to time. Some carers look after parents, others care for their children and others care for more distant relatives or friends. But despite this diversity, the one thing that full-time carers have in common is that they are all extraordinary people doing an extraordinary job. Angels who provide the respite are just as diverse with some in their late teens while others are retired from full-time work.
